LB 1244

https://nebraskalegislature.gov/bills/view_bill.php?DocumentID=63986&docnum=LB1244&leg=109

  • If this bill passes as written, tattoo and body modification services would become a sales-taxable service staring Oct. 1, 2026
  • Shops would need to collect and remit sales tax on every appointment that walks through the door.
  • Maybe your shop keeps track of it, maybe you have to keep track of it, but the artist will be on the hook to record, hold money, login and use the Nebraska sales tax portal to pay this sales tax every month.
  • Extra tax/record keeping burden to our already busy schedules.

Let’s stand up for our artist, small businesses, and the right to body art without unfair taxation!
